Industry market place

The team of the chair integrated automation participates at the industry market place of the IOTA foundation. The IOTA I4.0 demonstrator consists of several I4.0 components which are connected with the IOTA tangle.

The implemented I4.0 components comprises several drilling and polishing machines, a transport robot and a product. Every asset is equipped with a digital twin in form of an asset administration shell. Together with its asset administration shells the assets build autonomous target-oriented service units.

After the connection to the industry market place the machines get its own wallets and can offer its abilities and free capacities at the market place. The asset administration shell of the product knows its processing steps and searches for machines, which are able to proceed this production step with given parameters, at a defined time and with a defined price spread.

After discovering the fitting service provider and an automated contract is negotiated follows the transport of the product, the realisation of the service and the payment.

Every proactive I4.0 component, which are participates at the bidding process of the LIA demonstrator can have the role of the service requester (SR) or the service provider (SP). 

  • the digital twin (AAS) of the product act as service request (SR).
  • the SR is the initiator of the bidding process and requests for a service via sending a "Call for Proposal" (CfP) with a detailed technical and commercial description of the desired service.
  • The SP answers to the CfP and sends a proposal to provide the requested service during a defined time and with a certain price.
  • After the service requester have got the offers, he evaluates it and chooses the best.
  • After the offer of the service provider was accepted, the SP provides the service. After the provision of the service, the SP sends an acknowledgement to the SR.
  • The SR compares the description of the service provided with the description of the ordered service. Are they the same, it follows the payment with MIOTA.

All information exchanged within the frame of the bidding process of the I4.0 demonstrators follow the semantical interaction protocol, which is described in the rule VDI/VDE 2193-2.

In this demonstrator the IOTA tangle is considered as a common manufacturer independent, trustworthy and secure communication and computer infrastructure for the interaction of I4.0 components.
